March 31st marks the second Blue Moon of 2018. We've all heard the saying "Once in a Blue Moon", and what better way to celebrate this beautiful and profound week by honoring this upcoming Full Moon Blue Moon. We're sharing seven things you can do to honor in this unique and delicious Blue Moon.

1.  Go See A Movie

Yes, honoring in the blue moon can be as simple, easy and fun as that! Grab a bestie or treat yourself and go see Mary Magdalene at the theatre. It is the weekend of Easter and Passover after all…poetic timing at its best.

For those who want to stay in and watch a movie at home, seriously guys, watch the Intouchables on Netflix because it is one of the GREATEST movies I have seen in a long long time and sometimes blue moon rituals are about having the most fun ever and remembering that everything is sacred.

2. Boob Bathing Ritual

A Ritual like never before. Invite in Venus to join your party.

4) Make This Carrot Cake

We're not joking  — make this carrot cake… it’s raw, vegan, gluten free, and even passover approved (I think!) and it’s courtesy of my good pal Cathy Lynn Isaacs. Get the Recipe below!

Carrot Cake Ingredients:
1 cup grated carrot
1 cup raw walnuts
1 cup medjool dates, pits removed
1 cup dried apple slices
1 cup shredded coconut
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp Chinese Five Spice seasoning
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Carrot Cake Recipe:
Finely chop the carrots in the food processor, then scoop into a bowl. Puree 1 cup walnuts in the food processor. Add in 9 medjool dates into the pureed walnuts, and then blend into a sweet paste. Add walnut/date paste into bowl with the grated carrots, stir and mash in together. Blend dried apple slices with dried coconut, vanilla and Chinese five spice then mash into carrot mixture. Then add in 1/3 cup raisins and 1/3 cup chopped walnuts. Mix until well incorporated. Shape the carrot cake with your hands onto a plate. It’s easy to shape using a cake mold or make individual cupcakes by filling muffin papers or lining a muffin pan with wax paper. Chill until desired firm consistency is reached.

Frosting Ingredients:
1 cup macadamia nuts or cashews
2 Tbsp coconut oil
2 Tbsp raw coconut nectar or maple syrup
2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
1 Tablespoon water, add more as needed

Frosting Recipe:
Blend all ingredients together in a high speed blender or food processor. It may also help to soak your cashews (if you are using) for an hour prior to making for easier blending, if you soak the cashews, expect to use less water in blending.

5) A Gorgeous 7OM Guided Journey

Scan through our list of previous guided journeys from the Temple of Illumination. Take your time, read the words, see how you feel, and see which one jumps out at you — it might not be the one that you think!!! But your intuition always knows :)

6) Take A Nigh Time Moonlit Stroll

(notice we didn’t say hike! Like John Muir, himself,
we’re not so keen on hiking and more partial to sauntering….)

There is something very magical and peaceful and calming about walking at night in the moonlight…even if you just take a stroll around the block, be out with nature, allow the moon to speak to you and nourish you and help you remember your deeper connection to this celestial feat of nature that effects not only the tides but also your own physiology and psyche. She’s a bestie if you’ll let her be. Say hi. Stroll. Chat aloud. Don’t worry what the neighbors thing. The most magical and successful people on the planet know that talking to the moon is an essential part of existence. Just ask Bruno.

7) Dance!

Truly truly truly. Those on the current mentorship mastermind know that I am obsessed with dance and movement and how it allows our bodies to awaken to their deeper deliciousness. My own mamma had a stint of not even being able to walk up stairs because her knees were so bad, and now she is TAP-DANCING up the wazoo. True Story. I wish I could share the video with you - she is AMAZING at it!!!! But just take our word for it — movement is essential to a life well lived, and dance will open you up to more magic and more possibility than you have ever dreamed of.

If you’re in Ojai, we LOVE HAMSA STUDIOS….elsewhere, just google NIA…or even zumba or ballet…but just DO IT. It will change your life. Men, you too!!

That’s it!

Choose whichever one or two or three resonate with you, and remember that a ritual is a ritual because you intend it to be so — going to the movies is no less sacred than getting on a plane and going to India…the magic can happen anywhere and we are collectively and individually dismantling the hierarchies in our own minds that say that something is superior to something else. It isn’t. It’s ALL possible within any moment. That’s the lesson of the blue moon. When we master that, we pretty much have mastered existence :) Or as much as we can with our human brains anyways.

Happy Blue Moon, guys.
Make a gorgeous wish — it’ll come true.

Love,
 Nicola
